Keten Mehta: Conversion of Sholay into 3D was not an easy task!
The conversion has been done by filmmaker Keten Mehta’s Maya Digital studios, which really had to struggle to convert a few scenes of the cult film.
The translation of 1975 film Sholay into 3D was not a simple task and several of the scenes posed troubles. One such was when expert actor Hema Malini, who acting the role of Basanti, is seen in a jungle.

“One of the most part complicated frames from
the movie is where Hemaji is position in a jungle,” Mehta, who has completed movies like Maya Memsaab and Mangal Pandey: The Rising, said in a report.

“When we tell about depth and 3D, every person portion is a separate coating, with its own depth. From her nose, to the hair, to the flexed hand, to each and every tree, to every leaf of both tree become a divide layer which had to be pulled out independently and then composited mutually to form a 3D structure with the exact depth,” Mehta added.


The 3D translation of the craze movie, that also features veteran actors Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra, will hit the screens Friday.
